Wireshark의 라이센스는 GNU GPLv2를 따른다.
따라서 수정하거나 수정 없이 상업적 사용이 가능하다. 단, 배포 대상이 원할 경우 GPL에 따라 소스코드 및 관련 문서를 공개해야 한다.
